Meet April

I'm April Williams Moore- a proud mother of three and a lifelong advocate for strong Texas education. My commitment to Texas schools is personal, shaped by my experience as a parent, classroom volunteer, and professional who understands what today's student needs to succeed. 

I earned my Master's degree in Supply Chain Management from the University of Texas at Dallas and I bring over twenty years of corporate experience solving complex problems, managing teams, and delivering results. I am also an Air force Veteran and my background has shown me how essential critical thinking, adaptability, and real-world skills are for our students' futures.

For several years, I've volunteered in both general education and special population classrooms, working alongside teachers and supporting students with a wide range of learning needs. Being in the classroom has given me a clear view of the challenges educators face every day—and how rigid pacing requirements can limit flexibility. These experiences have shown me that while it is important to support students who need additional help, high-achieving students must not be overlooked.

As a mother, I’ve seen firsthand how this lack of flexibility can leave high-achieving students without enough opportunity to be challenged, even as teachers work hard to meet state requirements. I believe we can support students who need additional help while also ensuring advanced learners are not stagnant. I believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and excel at their own pace.

I, April Williams Moore, am running for the Texas State Board of Education, District 13, to advocate for policies that support educators, respect the rights of parents, and ensure all students are prepared to reach their full potential.
